For the time management category, I have used target planner for courses CLS105 and CHE116. I chose this strategy because I try to avoid from procrastinatng and I needed to pressure myself to keep working. By dividing up the big task into smaller parts and setting new due dates for myself, I am pressured to get the work done by the new set of due dates. For CLS 105, I have used target planner for Teacher Interview Project. I have put the final due date of Februay 21, 2011 at the center of the target and towards outside, I have set new due dates for completion of annoted syllabus, 10 questions for professors, arranging & completion interviews, and the personal reflection. By setting the new due dates, it helped me to stay on track and complete the divided tasks. For CHE116, I have used target planner to prepare for my first exam. The exam was on Chapter 14, which composed of 6 sections. I have divided 6 sections in 1 week time-span and went through each sections on daily basis, which left me one day to review and take a final peek at the materials. The target planner took me a bit of time to create, but once it was completed, it was very easy to follow and effective for it helped me to stay on track and have put pressure on myself to study and get the work done. Above are the two target planners which I have created for my CHE116 exam preparation and CLS105 teacher interview projects for documentation purpose.
As I mentioned earlier, I like using a target planner for research papers and things that require a lot of planning because it helps me to get motivated to get the smaller works done and eventually work toward the final finished product. Also, the visualization really helps to see what needs to be done and by when. I think this strategy will work best if you are a visual learner and need to see things to learn better. Great job on utilizing a target planner strategy on those courses !!
ReplyDeleteI am surprised to see that the target planner is very well-organized and specific; writing down the due date of what I should do. You divided the Faculty Interview into several parts so and also divided the section of the exam into six parts, so you can do them more efficiently. It looks very useful when you plan ahead on how I should study for an exam or get ready for a project. I did not tried it, but I am planning on using this for my future project or exams.
ReplyDeleteTarget planner is a great strategy indeed! I also used this strategy for my history paper and it helped me a lot in preparing for the paper step by step in enough period of time. It helped me not to procrastinate and write a paper one or two days before the due date. By following the dates written on the planner, I was able to wrtie multiple drafts of the paper. I guess I can use this for studying for the exam as well by doing it like how you did!
ReplyDeleteI like the way you organized due dates through target planner. This is actually very useful not only because it displays a clear list of things you should do by when, but also it shows how far you are with the current project. And by the time you reach the center, you will feel more accomplished than ever. Anyways, good job with the diagram. I love it!
ReplyDeleteAgent Yong-Jin Kim, I see that you utilized Target Planner as your strategy. It is what I used as well, and it has helped me save tons of time and not procrastinate. I am a big procrastinator, and using this method helped me stay on top of my things, since I gave myself the due dates and planned what I should do before the actual assignment is due. I should utilize this for preparing for my exams as well. I should use this along with 20minute test prep for preparing for exams. That will help in tons of ways. Great job.
