Task Management

Finally, this is the last blog for this class. For the past few weeks, we have been using a lot of strategies that can boost up our grades or can help us have the right studying habits. There were several strategies that were really helpful and were effective; some strategies were not that much of a help, but they were still worth a try. There were also some strategies that I have used before I learned them during class. I was glad that I had an opportunity to share my experiences of using the strategies. For our last blog, we are able to discuss any Task Management strategy that we continue to use but did not discussed in previous blogs. So, I want to talk about the Divde By Four strategy.

The Divide By Four strategy was a really effective strategy in accomplishing my Major/Career Exploration project. I was able to complete the project step by step by using this strategy. In this project, a person can divide the tasks into four sections: prepare, start, continue, and finish. In the prepare section, I filled out and completed the proposal. I wrote the current condition that I am in, and 6 strategies that I can use in order to fulfill my goal. I also wrote the plans of each strategies, so I can put them in action. The second section, which is start, I wrote my proposal in words and began to start using the 6 strategies that I decided to use. After that, I went over to the continue section. At this section, I gathered the documentations and informations that I need in order to acheive my goal. Since my goal is transfering into Newhouse next semester, I gathered informations that I could get. Finally, in the finish part, I wrote my reflextion paper, which is a summary of what I have done, what I need to do, and what have I learned during this project.

This strategy helped me finish the project in an organized way. I was able to finish this project effectively and quickly. I strongly recommend using this strategy when you do not know how to start a project or study an exam.

  1. I also used the divide by 4 strategy for my major/career exploration and for HOA 106 exam. By dividing it into 4 different parts I was able to be organized before I began the work. This way, I was able to prepare for the project and exam in a much efficient way. Great job on your last blog!!

  2. Like you and Adrien, I have also used the divide by 4 strategy for biology and chemistry. The strategy allowed me to plan and organize everything out from beginning to the end. Thus, I was able to prepare myself with all the necessary resources and finish strong, preparing for the upcoming exams this week. Your work has been tremendous this semester with the blog! Good job!

  3. I used Divide by Four strategy for CLS 105 and CFS 388 class. It's great strategy to make your heavy workload into manageable parts. Because I'm only working on a small part of project, it lets me focus on that section more compared to working on entire project and rushing to finish it. I love how we can use more time because of the time saved from using this strategy.

  4. I have used divide by four strategy and this is a great strategy for me so that it keeps me from wasting time and it keeps me focused and informs me what I have to do for every step. One thing that is good about this strategy is that it makes a hard task seem easy for you because it is divided into four smaller steps that you can handle easily, within a bearable amount of time. Dividing the task by four will help you start your task without hesitation, since you know well that every steps will contain the easy jobs that you can handle. It makes you look at the task as a whole but at the same time you can see how manageable the heavy task will be. I love to use this strategy so that it will keep me motivated and keep me from wasting my time. It helps me start a task right away without lingering.

  5. I used Divide by Four strategy on CLS 105 and CFS 388 just like Chan. Though the two course rendered me 2 big tasks in this time, I was able to finish it with divide by four, as it made the impossible-looking projects into 4 parts of tiny projects which can be finished within hourly manner and it gave specific instruction in each part. This strategy will save your time of having to get confused and overwhelmed.
