I Need Potent Motivation

Motivation is what I need in order to keep going and doing what I am supposed to do. What motivates me? That is the hardest question I can ever find, at the same time, it is the easiest question I can ever find. I know that earning good grades will result me into having a better future and overall will strengthen the course of my life. However, at the same time, the rewards that I can get can be other external things such as free time, the time for my actual interest, and relaxation.

The motivation to do the actual work is keeping myself distanced away from distraction when I am working. The motivation to actually study and learn for high performance is thinking about my future. I regard these two factors as just as important as each other. However, they are two different factors; one is about the future that I cannot foresee, and one is in the immediate present, things that I want to enjoy. What is more powerful? I do not know. What I do know is that I must keep these two in proportion.

There are other very small factors in motivating me to work as well. Scarcity of time, a satisfying grade on my exam, and how much I am interested in the subject. And such things like the picture that I have taken, that kind of stuff makes me want to put more pictures on this week's blog.... What is YOUR MOTIVATION!

  1. A ha Bmayne~~ I agree with the last picture, motivation matters. I have used the same method as you and I gotta say this strategy helped me to figure out what kinds of rewards are waiting for me in the upcoming future. It has made my motivation to be higher and made me want to even study more and more, and endure all the hardships in college life here in Syracuse. I hope using this method had similar impact on your academic fields and overall, nice job Bmayne

  2. It is indeed hard to find the right motivation that could stimulate me and get a good grade. Studying is something that I don't find interest in, so I really needed a motivation that could motivate me. To see what outcome I will get and the rewards that I will receive, the Exploring Rewards strategy was the right one to keep me motivate to study. Now we have the motivation, let's do our best in order to get a good grade and good reward!

  3. Whoever or whatever it is, if you can find a motivation through something, then I think that's all there is to it. As long as you get motivated by anything and you keep working hard with that motivation, then you can successfully earn your prize.

  4. Another exploring rewards strategy. I see how people like the simplicity of this strategy. I, too like the simplicity of exploring rewards strategy and it's effectiveness but as I mentioned in another commet, this works best if combined with academic fears strategy. I suggest you give it a try and see it for yourself. This weeks motivation lecture was really helpful and I can't wait to adapt these to my other courses.

  5. Of the two strategies between rewards and fear, I think most of us chose to do the rewards. People say that fear is necessary to control themselves, but I also think reward is necessary to control. You give a cookie to your dog, your dog will listen to you because he is going to want more cookies. Good job.
